It is with great sadness to report that Mr David Hockings Pilot, Instructor, Engineer well known at Rochester Airport has passed away in an aircraft accident in Northern Spain on 9th January.

David was a great asset to the Flying Community and from the age of 14 joined the Air Training Core, flew gliders at 17 and became a Rolls Royce apprentice.  He gained his PPL in 1976 and in 1987 went to work for the CAA. David became a commercial pilot and flying instructor as well as a licensed Engineer operating at Farthing Corner, Rochester, Deanland and most recently at Spilsted farm.

He will be sorely missed.
